Fireside- Jason Wade

Last night I was able to attend a fireside at the Meadows Stake. The speaker was Jason Wade. He is the main character in the LDS movie 17 Miracles. It is about the Willie and Martin handcart companies that came across the plains to late in the season for it to be safe. Levi Savage (Jason Wade) tells the pioneers this but they ignore his advice and publicly rebuke him. He decided to go with the company anyway and do as much to help as he could. He was never bitter about being rebuked in public, ever. He was a really good man. It was really interesting to hear Jason Wade talk about making this film, the characters in it and some of the experiences they had while filming. This movie was shot in just 18 days. That’s really incredible. He said he was also chased by real wolves. But the things he really spoke of were- anchoring your life in prayer. ALWAYS pray and ask for help and inspiration. He gave personal experiences of this in his own life. He also spoke of (especially to the youth) defining yourself. Decide now who you are going to be. Don’t let others do that for you. You decide and then become that person. Don't let anyone stop you. You might make mistakes but you will learn from those mistakes and move on. It was a really good fireside. I was really glad I was able to go and listen.
